I have been teaching music since 1996, but I have been learning about music my whole life. Since 2007, I have been director of guitar studies at Palmer Trinity School in Miami, Florida. There, I teach students from sixth grade through senior year. Because the guitar is my instrument of means, it is my instrument of choice to teach music. My approach to education is Socratic in nature: Would you rather memorize information without knowing why...? OR learn how to formulate answers (or more questions!) to those questions. I use a scale-based methodology for understanding how music works -compositionally and theoretically- as we learn to play it. Aside from the time I have spent learning from thousands of my own students, my academic qualifications to teach are grounded in the various music degrees I've earned from university study. I have a Bachelor's degree in music from the Florida State University, as well as Master's and Doctoral degrees from the University of Rochester's prestigious Eastman School of Music. I am a standing member of the Guitar Foundation of America and I am a board member of the Florida Guitar Foundation. If you would like a full curriculum vitae, just email me.

I currently volunteer and direct the Florida Guitar Foundation's Community Guitar Ensemble. If you are interested in playing with other folks who enjoy the classical guitar and playing music in a friendly and supportive environment, then click on the link above to learn more.

The "Click for Videos" links are for students who are working on solos of their own and want a reference for how a piece sounds. Just e-mail me if you wish to work on a solo and want a video example of how it could be played!
